Al Siraat College was honoured to welcome the Mayor of the City of Whittlesea, Cr Aidan McLindon, for a special visit. During his time at the college, Mayor McLindon met with College founders Mr Fazeel and Ms Rahat, who shared the inspiring history of Al Siraat and its mission to provide quality education to students in our community.

A highlight of the visit was the Mayor’s meeting with our 2025 College Captains Aaliya Farah (Girls) and Amaar Hamida (Boys), alongside their Vice-Captains Nusayr Sultan and Farhan Abid, where they recorded a video promoting the recently launched Online Campus together. This initiative aims to further enhance educational accessibility for students both within and beyond the ASC community.  The mayor welcomed opportunities for our student leaders to better understand the processes, roles and responsibilities of the Mayor and councillors.

The Mayor provided insights and updates, fostering a productive dialogue between the local government and our school community.

Our Al Siraat girls’ soccer team fought hard in their second-week match of the SSV (School Sports Victoria) tournament, but the game ended in a determined 0-0 draw, with both teams unable to break the deadlock.

From the opening whistle, our Al Siraat girls fought hard in a tightly contested match, showcasing strong defensive organisation. Both goalkeepers played a crucial role, making key saves to keep the game level. The midfield battle was intense, but clear scoring opportunities were rare.

In the final minutes, we pushed forward in search of a late winner, but the opposition’s defence held firm, resulting in a hard-fought draw. While the match ended goalless, it was filled with energy, tactical battles, and standout individual performances.

With this solid defensive display, our team now looks ahead to the next challenge, aiming to turn resilience into attacking success in the matches to come.

  • SSV Soccer Girls Update: Week 2 Tournament

Our Year 3 students recently took a fascinating journey back to 1870s Melbourne, where they experienced a school day from the past under the guidance of the stern yet knowledgeable Mrs Sargood of Rippon Lea Estate. Dressed in full period costume, Mrs Sargood (National Trust of Australia) stepped into the classroom, bringing history to life with her traditional teaching style and strict expectations.

Through engaging hands-on activities and lively discussions, students explored the stark contrasts between their modern education and the schooling of the Sargood children. They discovered how lessons were taught without technology, how discipline was enforced, and even how handwriting was carefully practised using ink and quills.

This immersive experience provided a unique glimpse into the past, allowing students to appreciate how far education has come while gaining a deeper understanding of history. It was a memorable and enjoyable learning adventure for all! And, of course, many students were quite relieved they didn’t have to write on chalkboards every day!
