Our Year 7 girls and boys attended an excursion visit to the Melbourne Sea Life Aquarium.
As part of their Science Classification Unit, our Year 7’s learned how and why classification is an important skill set for scientists. They considered the physical and behavioural features of animals on displayed, then drawn upon similarities and differences that existed to organised species into taxonomic groups.
The students had an opportunity to practice their classification skills through the use of the dichotomous key. They viewed an amazing under water and penguin exhibitions up close.
