Ilm Program

The ʿIlm Program at Al Siraat College is a seven-year intensive course that provides Al Siraat students an opportunity to study the traditional Islamic sciences at an advanced level and graduate as Islamic scholars. The ʿIlm studies take place along with mainstream education, during the school day as well as out of school hours.

Program Overview

Objectives

  1. High level of knowledge and competence in all key Islamic sciences, as summarised below.
  2. Practice in accordance with knowledge, and implementation of Prophetic teachings in all aspects of life.
  3. Exemplary behaviour and manners in all settings in and out of school
  4. Competence in imparting knowledge 

Key Subjects

  • Classical Arabic: Syntax (naḥw), grammar, morphology, inflection (ṣarf), literature (adab), phraseology (inshāʾ), eloquence (balāgha)
  • ʿAqīda (Creed, belief system)
  • Hadith: (all major compilations)
  • Hadith Sciences Uṣūl al-ḥadīth
  • Tafsīr: (Translation and Tafsīr of the whole Qurʾān)
  • Principles of Tafsīr (Uṣūl al-tafsīr)
  • Fiqh
  • Principles of Fiqh (Uṣūl al-fiqh)
