The CoverMe 2015 blanket drive is A Seekers Works Initiative which was initiated in Sydney in 2003 and has since spread nationally as well as New Zealand and Canada. Al Siraat College has been participating in this annual drive since last year and contributed with over 25 blankets to this worthy cause. Let us all join hands together to help those in need during the cold Melbourne winter days by donating a blanket or sleeping bag for this worthy cause. Donations can be dropped off at any time with Ms Tanya in the main Admin Office and/or with Ms Cheryl in the Junior School Building.
The CoverMe Project aims to collect sleeping bags and blankets from the Muslim Community and redistribute them to the homeless in the various locations in which they were collected. This community initiative promotes the knowledge to action approach of SeekersHub. Last year’s Blanket Drive collected 800+ blankets which were distributed to those in need, mainly the homeless and families in need.
From now until July 6th, 2015, teams in Auckland, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney will conduct this much needed campaign to help collect and redistribute sleeping bags and blankets to various organisations that support the homeless around Australia and New Zealand.
