News Student Leadership
20 March 2025
Selected SRC student leaders from Years 6, 7, and 9 recently had the exciting opportunity to visit Parliament House as part of their learning about democracy in action.
During the visit, students spoke with several Members of Parliament and were able to step inside the parliamentary chamber to witness a local Wollert community petition being officially tabled. They listened as the petition was read aloud and observed the voting process carried out by the sitting MPs – a powerful, real-world demonstration of democratic participation.
The students also toured the historic Parliament House library, gaining insight into the wealth of knowledge and resources available to our state’s lawmakers. A highlight of the day was a special meeting with Victoria’s Premier, Jacinta Allan, who took the time to speak with the students about leadership and civic responsibility.
All students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and came away with a deeper understanding of how our government works and the importance of active citizenship.
