After a year of lockdown, Student Council is pleased to return to serve the homeless and disadvantaged people in the city.
The last two Sundays, Al Siraat College, in partnership with “Hasene Australia” was able to host quality services to the homeless people at Queen Victoria market, corner of Franklin Street.
It was chilly night and the boys cooked fresh a meal. The menu available on the night was BBQ sausages and chips. The boys served more than 120 people on each Sunday night. It was wonderful to see people interacting and sharing stories with our students.
The great thing about doing this activity is that students feel empowered knowing that they are making a difference to people in their community who are suffering from real disadvantage and hardship. They have the power to change lives through their actions and bring hope.
I would like to thank the following students for attending and making the evening enjoyable and productive:
- Khaled Albahsh – Year 12 – Senior SRC member
- Yusuf Benamar – Year 11 – SRC member
- Harun Hassan – Year 11 – Indigenous Leader
- Adam Najem – Year 11 – House Captain
- Omar Albahsh – Year 11
- Mohammed Ali – Year 9
- Eisa Haniff – Year 9 – SRC member
- Ms Noori Ahmad – SRC Coordinator
A special thanks to Mr Deen Haniff, a parent who joined the boys to serve on Sunday, 17th July.
If you would like to contribute any donation or would like to join with the Senior boys, please feel free to contact the SRC Coordinator Ms Noori. JazakAllah khairan.
