2016 marked yet another memorable experience for both East Preston Islamic College and Al Siraat College. EPIC stole the show with 4 wins out of the 6 matches played in the competition.
East Preston Islamic College played host yet again to the annual East Preston Cup. Now in its fourth consecutive year, students from Years 5 to 10, both boys and girls, participated in the competition.
Upon arrival students moved on to their respective soccer areas. The girls competition was held in the gymnasium, and the boys on the undercover hard-court area.
To kick off proceedings the Year 5/6 teams commenced play first. The game consisted of two 15-minute halves, with a short brake in-between. The girls 5/6 match was played in amazing spirit, and again two years in a row Al Siraat were triumphant. The 5/6 ASC boys’ team was also amongst the winners, with a victory settled in a penalty shootout.
In a fast and very skillful display, EPIC looked strong early during the Year 7/8 boys match. EPIC opened the scoring early, leading 1 – 0 at the halftime break. The ASC boys had numerous opportunities. However, the strong defense and forceful pressure from the EPIC midfield players proved too strong, leaving ASC scoreless and taking the game 3 – 0.
During dhuhr pray, all students gathered in the Masjid. This was a beautiful example of the brotherhood and sisterhood.
