As we near the end of Term 1, Al Siraat hosted a Special Values Assembly for our Primary students in Years 3 - 6 who have demonstrated exemplary values and akhlaak.
Ms Inas was the MC. The very moving opening recitation of the Holy Qur'an was performed by Hifz student Harith from Year 4.
Mr Elbotaty, our Head of Primary, did the acknowledgment of Country and gave a speech presenting the importance Al Siraat College gives to values and how we communicate these values with weekly reminders and demonstrate our values in our actions and through our identity as individuals and as a school community.
Speeches were made by the Primary School Captains Ibraheem Mohsin and Sakeena Makbool: Ibraheem and his friend Mahd Chowdry gave a speech about Hajj. They explained how it is performed and the Islamic values we uphold during Hajj. Captain Sakeena and her friend Haadia gave a speech about Ramadan, the way it is observed by Muslims and the Islamic values we uphold during Ramadan.
Special guests who were attending the Values Awards Assembly included the Hon. Lily D’Ambrosio MP, Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change and Minister for Solar Homes. Bronwyn Halfpenny MP, State Member for Thomastown, was also attending the event. Both MPs gave heartfelt speeches praising the students who were receiving Values Awards today and also reflecting on the importance of Ramadan for the Muslim community. They handed out the certificates to the selected students from each class.
The Values Assembly concluded with a very inspiring speech by College Principal Mr Fazeel on the verse from the Qur’an: “The servants of The Merciful One are those who walk the earth gently.” He explained that, “people who walk the earth gently are those who do not disturb things. They are responsible citizens.” Mr Fazeel talked about guarding our tongues and not using it to break hearts or being mean to others.
We congratulate our award recipients and commend each of them for showing exemplary values, especially during the blessed month of Ramadan. May Allah SWT reward each of them generously, ameen.
