Year 5B2 Darebin Creek Trail Bike Ride

26 November 2024

On a cloudy Monday morning, our Year 5B2 boys set off for their eagerly awaited cycling excursion along the Darebin Creek trail. Despite the gloomy skies and a wet path, excitement was palpable as the group began our journey. Leading the group was their class teacher Mr Marc, while Mr Saleh brought up the rear, ensuring everyone stayed safe as they navigated the trail.

The first leg of our journey, to the Hungry Jack’s on Dalton Road in Thomastown, was mostly smooth. Apart from one punctured tyre, the ride went off without a hitch. Along the way, the students’ delight was infectious, with comments like “This is so cool!” and “How awesome is this stream?” filling the air. One boy even exclaimed, “This is way better than being in class!” as they revelled in the outdoor experience.

The pit-stop at Hungry Jack’s was a highlight. The boys took the chance to refuel, energising themselves for the return leg of the trip.

The journey back proved a little wetter, but the dampness did nothing to dampen spirits. The boys rode on with determination and enthusiasm, completing a total distance of 21.5 kilometres in just 1 hour and 24 minutes of actual riding time.

The buzz of excitement upon our return to school was undeniable, affirming the value of this excursion. A special thank you goes to Mr Saleh for his steadfast support throughout the ride.

InShaAllah, we look forward to making this an annual tradition, fostering both adventure and camaraderie amongst our students.
