Our SRC (Student Representative Council) members and Interfaith Ambassadors joined hands to organise a wonderful celebration for our Secondary students and staff for International Women’s Day (IWD).
IWD is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity and is also used to express our respect, appreciation and kindness towards women. The campaign theme for International Women's Day 2021 is "Choose To Challenge: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world".
Our Secondary students and staff celebrated this special occasion by taking photos and having their Women's Day messages recorded.
As a sign of respect and appreciation for the great work women do around the world, students and staff were encouraged to wear purple, green or white - the official colours of International Women's Day: Purple signifies justice, dignity and self-respect. Green symbolizes hope and new life. White represents purity. Our student leaders hand made over 300 purple ribbons and distributed among staff and students as a symbol of appreciation.
Donations collected on the day will go towards educational support for to underprivileged girls abroad, displaying our unity as women.
