The Street Art Project Ceremony was held at the Aurora Adventure Park in Craigieburn on Thursday, 21 March 2019.
The Street Art Project was run in collaboration with City of Whittlesea, Lendlease, Edgars Creek SC and Al Siraat College. This event was held to showcase the wonderful achievements of our Year 9 Secondary students who contributed toward the Street Art paneling that will now be displayed permanently in the Aurora estate's landmark Aurora Adventure Park (the big orange play space on Craigieburn Road).
Mayor Lawrie Cox gave a heartfelt speech of firstly acknowledging country and then acknowledging the tragedy that occurred last Friday in Christchurch. He explains the importance of having these platforms where local groups, schools and the council team work together and praised the works of everyone involved.
Ms Stamatia also gave a beautiful speech, praising the artistic talent and skill of her students. Selected students from both Al Siraat College (Year 9's) and Edgar’s Creek College (Year 8's) shared their reflections and the ribbon was cut to officially declare the Street Art displays open.
We encourage our community to go past and have a look. The Aurora Adventure Park has free wifi, bbq and shaded seating areas, play space and a grassed area. We now have our students’ artwork decorating the area.
