Our boys wrapped up an incredible season with a dominant victory over Edgars Creek in what was a true showdown of the two unbeaten teams in the SSV (School Sports Victoria) league.
With the boys playing during Ramadan, their spirits were high, and the motivation to finish the season as undefeated champions was evident from the start.
Captain Rayan won the toss and elected to field first, setting the tone for a high-pressure game.
Despite a powerful 48-run innings from Edgars Creek’s Jackson, our bowlers stepped up. Ibrahim led the fightback with a sensational spell, claiming 4 wickets, while Scrim chipped in with 2 crucial wickets.
Edgars Creek was bowled out for 103 runs after 11 wickets.
Our chase began cautiously but steadily, reaching 49 for no loss at the halfway mark.
In the final four overs, Hamza and Abdul-Fattah accelerated the scoring rate, while Omar G. and Captain Rayan guided the team to victory with a composed and mature partnership.
We secured a convincing win by 55 runs, capping off a perfect season!
This win capped off a perfect season – undefeated champions and league winners of the South District Zone! The boys have shown remarkable resilience and teamwork throughout the campaign. Now, we turn our focus to the District Semi-Finals, where we will aim to continue this winning momentum.
As a coach, I couldn’t be prouder of the squad’s effort and dedication. With a squad of 15 talented boys, it was always a tough decision to pick just eight players each week — but that’s a great problem to have! Every player has contributed to the team’s success at some point this season, and credit must go to the boys for their enthusiasm, willingness to learn, and hunger to win.
