Our ASC cricket team has made an outstanding start to the SSV (School Sports Victoria) cricket season, securing back-to-back victories over Marymede and Epping Views in the last two weeks.
In what was a monumental moment for our school, Al Siraat registered its first-ever SSV cricket victory over Marymede College, winning by 30 runs. Our boys batted first, posting 106 for 8, with key contributions from Sarim, Rayan, and Harris, who all chipped in with scores in the 20s.
Defending our total, the bowling unit stepped up brilliantly, restricting Marymede to 72 for 6. Rayan Asad and Zayaan Khan led the attack, picking up two wickets each, ensuring a well-deserved win for the team.
Building on the momentum from last week, the team put in a commanding performance against Epping Views, securing a massive 98-run victory. Batting first, Al Siraat piled on 112 for just 1 wicket, with Salehi and Tahsin (two of our Hifz students) stitching together a 38-run partnership, while Sarim and Zayaan combined for another 32-run stand.
On the bowling front, Zayaan was the standout performer, claiming four wickets, while Omar and Tahsin provided solid support to dismantle the opposition.
As a coach, I am incredibly proud of the boys for their performances in the first two matches. Their dedication, teamwork, and hunger for success have been evident. A special mention to our Hifz program boys, who played a crucial role in both matches, proving that discipline and commitment extend beyond the classroom and onto the field.
With six games still to go, I am confident that this talented group has what it takes to bring success to Al Siraat College this season. Let’s keep up the momentum! Go Al Siraat!
