At its heart is Basel Adra, a young Palestinian lawyer and activist from Masafer Yatta, a cluster of villages in the southern West Bank under threat of the largest mass expulsion in the region’s history. Alongside Yuval Abraham, an Israeli investigative journalist, Basel documents the heartbreaking demolitions of homes, schools, and even water wells as Israeli forces seek to turn the area into a military training ground.
Shot over several years with hand-held cameras and archival footage, the film is a raw and intimate portrait of courage, despair, and unlikely friendship. It bears witness not only to the devastation of land and livelihood, but also to the profound strength of a community and the bonds that can form across even the most fractured lines.
