"R U OK? Day" happens every year in September on the second Thursday. This year, "R U OK? Day" was held on the 8th of September 2022. The day seeks to inspire and empower everyone to meaningfully connect with the people around them and start a conversation with those in their world who may be struggling with life. You don't need to be an expert to reach out – just a good friend and a great listener.
This year’s R U OK? Day was a great success, having over 200+ participants during the session, alhamdulillah. Students learnt everything they need to know on how to start a conversation when someone is feeling down. Asking R U okay? 3 simple words that can change a life. We had lots of fun where students were awarded wrist bands and also the top 3 kahoot players won a yummy prize.
We are really thankful for everyone who participated in the event. A big shout out goes to 3A students who did an amazing role play, teaching others what you should and should not do when asking.
Use these four steps and have a conversation that could change a life:
- 1) Ask R U OK?
- 2) Listen
- 3) Encourage action
- 4) Check in
Just remember, three little words can change a life. Ask someone today "R U OK?" because you’ve got what it takes.
