Ruqaiya Wazze was nominated for “Fred Hollows Foundation Humanity” Award on 25 November 2019. She represented Al Siraat as Year 6 Primary Captain and Student Representative Council member at the event.
Fred Hollows recognises Year 6 students who follow in Fred’s footsteps by making a positive difference in their community. It celebrates students who show compassion, integrity and kindness in their everyday lives, just as Fred the founder did. He worked as a humanitarian and eye surgeon and helped restore eyesight to thousands of people in Australia and overseas.
Ruqaiya was presented with a Fred Hollows Humanity Award certificate by former Victorian Premier and FHF Board Chair, John Brumby, to recognised her achievements at the Melbourne Town Hall. The award is given at national level from all states and territories. This is a wonderful achievement and a proud moment for the college.
Congratulations to Ruqaiya for all the wonderful work she does!
